Are we innately bisexual?

Sigmund Freud says yes. Poetry says yes.

And sometimes I ... feel yes. And according to Wiki (aahh good ol'):
Innate bisexuality (or predisposition to bisexuality) is a term introduced by Sigmund Freud (based on work by his associate Wilhelm Fliess), that expounds all humans are born bisexual but through psychological development (which includes both external and internal factors) become monosexual while the bisexuality remains in a latent state.
I find myself asking in times of deep uncertainty, when do I wake up from all this?

Take your education seriously

Some critics and parents think Obama is trying to persuade kids on his agendas. After listening to his speech, I can't imagine any intention other than heart-felt, empathic encouragement for students to stay in school. Although he brings up a lot of High Schoolers, this speech is a good earful for college students who face much larger dropout rates than grade school.

Today is my first day in school! Boy, I'm excited.

4th Graders: The Skinny on Dieting

In Today's Wall Street Journal:

Researchers at the University of California at San Francisco were about to
release a study showing 80% of fourth-grade girls were dieting, and I wanted
to determine: Was this a California oddity, or had AMerica's obsession with
slminess reached the 60-pound weight class?

My Report ended up mirroring the study's results. More than half of the
9-year old girls I surveyed said they were dieting, and 75%-even the skinniest
ones- said they weighed too much. I also spoke to fourth-grade boys and learned
what the girls were up against. "Fat girls aren't like regular girls," one boy
told me. "They aren't attractive."

I was appalled after reading this article. 9-year olds? Then again, my 12-year old cousin Annie also brought up dieting a few times while we devoured ice cream during hot summer days. America has become obsessed with dieting. As I stroll down Barnes and Noble health aisle, it blows my mind the endless streams of dieting books and how to "eat skinny." If we are so obsessed with losing weight, why is there a perverse effect on our obese population? It's this either/or mindset.

But I also feel, in many ways, a reason for a child's self-conscious, awkwardom, is influenced by how parents think of their own image. I'd imagine mommies also face insecurities about their own bodies, but maybe this is one of the many things one shouldn't pass down onto their children.

A middle school teacher:
On lunch duty each day, she notices 10 girls who eat nothing. "WE make them
take a few bites," she says, "But they fight me on it. They say, 'I'm not
hungry,' and I tell them, 'You've been here since 8 a.m. Of course you're

A little note on happiness

We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.

Text msg:

Steve: I feel u r acting a bit weird...
Steve: Do you want to see me again?
Me: Steve I was so embarrassed by your table manners I just can't see you again. Please don't contact me.

Of course he was furious, but such a disgusting guy shouldn't even deserve a phone call. He started bombarding me with non-stop sexual text messages and calling me through unidentified numbers the entire night! Thank god I never told him my last name nor gave him the opportunity to come near my apt.

If I ever get dumped, the last thing on my mind, especially if I want to get someone back, is harrassing them with my presence they felt so strongly to avoid in the first place.
